Maven didn’t follow my “formula” for learning to read. She didn’t want to hear about phonics (haha) and hated my beloved Bob Books, so I thought she’d never learn to read. Fast-forward a few years to today, and she’s reading Great Expectations. This is so like God’s plan for me: He doesn’t follow my formula or do things my way, so I assume all is lost. But in the end, His way is so much greater and higher. I should have “great expectations” when it comes to God instead of such doubt and worry. Take heart, mamas and papas, when your little people, your work, or your day isn’t going the way you think it should—the end is definitely better than the beginning. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
